Sweep Up Your Neighborhood …….. Oklahoma City
July 31, 2008
If you live in an Oklahoma City neighborhood with an association, you can clean up your neighborhood for free once a year through the Saturday Morning Sweep. September is the deadline for this year. So, if you haven’t taken advantage of this great service, you’d better hurry. The Solid Waste Management Division of Oklahoma City provides this free service for any neighborhood with an association within Oklahoma City limits.
A collection team will deliver a commercial size dumpster to your neighborhood between 7 am and 8 am. All the neighborhood has to do is provide 15 volunteers and one monitor that will oversee the clean up and who can stay in contact with the management division. Usually, the neighborhood will have until noon to use the dumpster.
I just don’t think there’s a better or cheaper way to clean up Oklahoma City neighborhoods than this free service.
Sixty-Two New Homes May Be Coming To Edmond
July 24, 2008
It is going up for discussion soon, for the approval of the Inspirada Addition. The property is currently zoned for single family homes. The Inspirada Addition will be made up of 62 single family homes on 15 acres just north of Covell Road. The addition will be west of Asheford Oaks and east of Autumn Ridge.
The homes are expected to have twenty-five foot front yards, five foot side yards for one story homes and eight foot side yards for two-story homes, and twenty foot back yards. The addition can easily be accessed by a ninety feet right of way on Covell Road. There will also be a stub out road that will eventually be an extension of Autumn Ridge. Best of all, the developers are leaving plenty of green space in this garden type retirement community.
I believe this will be a great addition to the community of Edmond, Oklahoma.
Oklahoma ’s Prosperity Project
July 17, 2008
Almost every Oklahoma voter is a retiree, an employee or an employer. So, that gives each of us a vested interest in who will be our Members of Congress and State Legislators. These are the people that will keep Oklahoma on the competitive edge in the worldwide marketplace. Oklahoma needs a variety of candidates who understand what it takes to grow our wonderful state.
The state has developed the Prosperity Project to help all Oklahoma residents make informed decisions when it comes time to vote. This is a nonpartisan project because the state does not and will not ever endorse candidates.
To know where your candidates stand on Oklahoma ’s economy, visit the Oklahoma ’s Prosperity Agenda and Federal Agenda. This will show you how each candidate plans to vote on issues that will affect the state and its economy.
Before you vote, check out each candidate to make sure the one you want will be in office.
Edmond Residents Get Heat Pump Rebates
July 10, 2008
As heating and cooling costs continue to rise, many homeowners are looking for ways to save extra money while they increase their home’s energy efficiency. So, I have found this great way to save money and increase my home’s energy efficiency. It is done by installing a heat pump.
Any Edmond , Oklahoma residents who replace their air-conditioning unit or gas furnace with a ground-source heat pump will be eligible for a heat pump rebate. This will also save you money each month on your heating and cooling bill.
To qualify for the rebate, the heat pump must meet some criteria. The electric heat pump must be permanently installed, the heat pump must meet the minimum efficiency rating that is set by the city’s rebate program, the pump must provide cooling and heating capabilities in one unit, and the pump must not burn fuel to make heat. There are also more guidelines that can be found here, to ensure you meet all criteria to qualify for your rebate.
Remember that when you replace your current unit with a heat pump it will cost more upfront, but you’ll see a great difference on your next energy bill. Overall your energy bill will be cut by 1/3 based on your annual energy consumption.
Installing a heat pump is one more way to go green. I’ve been trying to do my part. I hope this helps you get on the road to going green.
